Preferential proof of origin for EU exports to Singapore from 01/01/2023. In accordance with the Decision No. 1/2022 amending the Origin Protocol of the Free Trade Agreement between the EU and Singapore, for EU exporters the system of “approved exporters” is replaced by the system of “registered exporters”.
This means that, from 1 January 2023, the proof of origin of EU exporters under the aforementioned Agreement will comprise a statement of origin issued by an exporter registered in the EU, indicating their REX number, instead of the “declaration of origin” indicating an authorised exporter authorisation number.
To facilitate the transition, the Decision establishes a transition period ensuring Singapore customs continue to accept origin declarations made by EU-approved exporters until 31 March 2023.
